NASA's return to the moon a boost in June with the launch of two satellites, which receive a wealth of data about Earth's closest neighbor to the back. The agency explained the tasks ahead of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO and the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS. The ship is launched along 18th June aboard an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. With a series of seven instruments, LRO will be to identify safe landingLocations for future human explorers looking for potential resources, characterize the radiation exposure and testing of new technologies. LCROSS will seek a definitive answer about the presence of water ice at the lunar poles.
